Worship in the Benefice

We try to offer a range of worship to suit different tastes and styles. However, we are a Benefice that has always been centred on the weekly Eucharist or service of Holy Communion at which the congregation receive the bread and wine in memory of Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross.

Our usual pattern of services can be seen below:

 

St. John's, New Alresford

The Eucharist

1st, 3rd Sundays

9.30am - Parish Communion

 

4th Sundays

8am Holy Communion (BCP)

At 8am, there is a said Holy Communion service according to the Book of Common Prayer for those who prefer Communion to All-Age Worship or who still have a soft spot for the BCP!

9.30am Celtic Holy Communion
All are welcome to St. John's for our new informal communion service in the Celtic tradition.

 

Midweek Communion

There is also a half-hour said Eucharist on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 am.

 

All-Age Worship (2nd Sunday)

On the second Sunday of the month, our 9:30 am service is a service of All-Age Worship that is designed to appeal to all ages but has a specific focus on those with young families. The service lasts about 40-50 minutes and has 4 hymns which are accompanied by our Music Group.  These services usually involve an interactive All-Age talk or a dramatic presentation by some of our young people instead of a sermon and are based around the theme of the day. Our Baptism families are often welcomed at this service.

Sundays @ Six (2nd Sunday)

Come early (5.45pm) for a hot drink and a cake. Reflections and prayers with worship songs accompanied by piano and acoustic instruments.

Cafe Church

A relaxed service on the first Sunday every two months
at 11 am.

10am - A quiet reflective service.
